Ready, Set, GOOOO!

The new year is here. Are you ready?

It was girl scouts, or maybe the boy scouts, who said, “Be Prepared.”

I have spent most all of December and this first week of January getting ready for what I believe will be a banner year in MY business, and in yours. I can’t explain it, I just feel it. 2019 is going to be the year for hard working, focused, prepared agents, sponsors, directors, sales people (and instructors) to leap to the next level. It’s in the air.

Long, long ago at a track and field clinic, I heard one of the greatest high school track coaches of all time, Joe Newton, define discipline. “Discipline is doing WHAT needs to be done, WHEN it needs to be done, the BEST you can, every single time.” Nose to the grindstone, ready to make things happen.

Success is not an accident and it surely isn’t luck. It takes discipline. It was Thomas Jefferson who said, “I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.” So what are you doing to make some “luck?”

For me, Two things: 1) I am going to continue to double down on my strengths, the things that I do wonderfully. When you (or I) focus on our strengths, we give the best of ourselves to those we serve. I’m done trying to be the things I am not. It’s too much of an uphill battle, a waste of time, and way too unproductive. 2) I’m going to keep things at an even keel, not get out of balance. If we let out business (or our busy-ness) get out of control, it sets us up for frustration, fatigue, and a decline in our performance. I will utilize the things in my life that counter-balance work: running, my family, reading….

What will you do?
